About Klapa Cambi

Klapa Cambi is a Dalmatian klapa, a group of a cappella singers, from Kaštel Kambelovac near Split. It was founded in 1986 within the local cultural society KUD Cambi and takes its name from the noble Cambi family and their tower in Kaštel Kambelovac. The klapa sings traditional Dalmatian songs and popular songs, and more recently its own compositions.

Klapa Cambi reached a wider audience in 1991 with its first appearance at the Festival of Dalmatian Klapas in Omiš, where it later won many first prizes from both the jury and the audience. From 1999 the singers recorded klapa versions of Gibonni's songs, among them "Judi, zviri i beštimje", and in 1999 they sang "Izresla ruža rumena" with the ethno singer Lidija Bajuk. The klapa has won ten Porin awards, including best folk album for Klapa Cambi in 2000 and Klapa Cambi u Lisinskom in 2002, and best pop album for Od zipke do križa in 2013.

Their albums include Lipa slika (1998), Vrime od nedije (2001), Svitlo jubavi (2003), Ne more mi bit (2008), Prava karta (2010), Od zipke do križa (2012), Ako tako triba bit (2015) and Daj da budem tvoj (2021), most of them on the Scardona label. "Ne more mi bit" won the prize for best interpretation at the Dalmatinska šansona festival in Šibenik in 2008, "Kriva karta" took the jury's second prize there in 2009, and at the Split Festival in 2011 "Od zipke do križa" came second in the audience vote and won the journalists' prize.

In 2007 the group split: most of the singers went on as Klapa Cambi Split, which today performs as CAMBI., while the klapa from Kaštel Kambelovac continued under its old name. Marking 25 years in 2011, Klapa Cambi filled Split's Poljud stadium with a solo concert, and in January 2013 it toured the United States and Canada. Its 40th anniversary was celebrated in 2026 with a concert at Zagreb's Lisinski hall, with Dalmatino as guests.
