About Živan Milić

Živan Milić was a Serbian singer of light music, romances and old-town songs, born on 3 April 1937 in Kragujevac. He first sang in public at a school event in his home town, with the song "Ublaži nemir moj", and moved to Belgrade at about twenty, where he graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts.

His first record came out in 1961, together with Lola Novaković. The song he is best remembered for is "Mali cvet", a version of Sidney Bechet's "Petite Fleur", released by PGP RTB in 1963 with "Do zvezda". He recorded about twenty singles and LPs, took part in nearly every Yugoslav light music festival of his time and won awards for interpretation.

In Opatija he sang "Ja sam kriv" in 1963, and in 1964 "Znaci naše ljubavi" and a duet with Nina Spirova. The same year he sang "Cveće i ti" at Beogradsko proleće and "Moja maslina" in Split. Later festival songs include "Mala dubrovačka podoknica" and "Čaša za ljubav" (1968), "San" (1973), "Nevjernica" (1974) and, at the old-town song evenings of Beogradsko proleće, "Kradem ti se u večeri" (1978), "Srce" (1979) and "Noć na Dorćolu" (1981). At Zvuci Panonije he sang "Balada o slavonskom drumu", "Vera, Vera", "Tako će i biti" and, in 1985, "Tiho, tiho tamburaši". His album Da smo se ranije sreli came out in 1976.

Živan Milić died in Belgrade on 15 March 1993. The playlist gathers his recordings from "Mali cvet" to "Jesenje lišće".
