About Zaprešić Boys
Zaprešić Boys are a band of football supporters from Zaprešić, near Zagreb, whose songs are written mostly for the Croatian national football team and for Dinamo Zagreb. The group of friends started out on the terraces in the early 1990s, and one of them wrote chants that later generations of fans still sing.
In 2005, on the way back from a match, they ended up in a neighbourhood studio in Zaprešić, then the base of the young group Connect, and recorded their first song, "Boja mojih vena". It caught on among Dinamo fans and got the band's first video. Before the 2006 World Cup they made "Srce vatreno" with Nered, and for Euro 2008 "Samo je jedno" with Connect. From 2009 they went on alone, with authentic stadium vocals and refrains they write themselves; the first was "Duša moga grada", a birthday song for Zagreb.
Each big tournament brought a new anthem: "U porazu i pobjedi" for Euro 2012, "Opijen tribinama" in 2013, "Neopisivo" for the 2014 World Cup, which broke records in the media and on social networks, and "Pratim put" for Euro 2016. For the 2018 World Cup they released "Igraj moja Hrvatska", which gathered millions of views and topped the HR40 chart, and they joined Nina Badrić, Vanna, Zsa Zsa, Neno Belan, Jacques Houdek and others on "Tako se voli". When the team came home with silver, Zaprešić Boys were the only performers at the welcome on Zagreb's main square, in front of some 100,000 people.
That year they won Jutarnji list's Zlatni studio award as group of the year, and "Igraj moja Hrvatska" was named the pop hit of 2018 at the Cesarica awards. Later songs include "Za ekipu" (2019), about fans watching the team from the local pub, and, in 2021, "Nebo boje Dinama" and "8 slova" with Opća opasnost. The band sings with Bojan Šalamon Shalla, Marko and Ivan Novosel, Zdeslav Klarić and Saša Pleše.
