Opća Opasnost

Opća Opasnost are a hard rock band from Županja, Croatia, founded in 1992 by guitarist Slaven "Žiža" Živanović and singer Pero Galić, who were both serving in the 131st Brigade of the Croatian Army. The first line-up also had Igor Kolić and Silvio Soljačić on guitars, Eugen Nemet on drums and Ivan Nol on bass. Their first album, also called Opća opasnost, was recorded in 1992 and 1993 with eight patriotic songs and one love song, but it was only passed around locally and never officially released.

After Nol and Nemet left, Kolić moved to bass and Ranko Šlibar joined on drums. In the autumn of 1993 the band recorded Treba mi nešto jače od sna, produced by Darko Gregl and Marijan Brkić, and its title track and "Opća opasnost" rose high in the Croatian charts. Amerika (1995) was produced by the new guitarist Žarko Fabek, and later that year the band won the main prize at Arenafest with "Njene sjene". With Vlado Soljačić on guitar and Branimir "Bani" Jovanovac on keyboards came the EP Vrijeme je za grom (1995) and Ruski rulet (1997), with Josip Kamenski as the new drummer.

In 1998 Opća Opasnost won OSFEST with "Mjesečar", and in 1999 sang "Rastaviše i nas dvoje" at Zlatne žice Slavonije with Najbolji hrvatski tamburaši, the former Zlatni Dukati. Around 2000 they stepped back, because rock music did not pay a living, but they never split up.

In 2008 they returned with a concert in Osijek, opening for Whitesnake. A best-of followed in 2009, the live DVD 15 godina... i ovaj grad was nominated for a Porin, and the albums Vrati se na svjetlo (2011), Rocker ... to sam ja (2014) and Karta do prošlosti (2019) came out. In 2013 "Tvoje ime čuvam" won the Porin for hit of the year.

Slaven Živanović died in February 2025, and the band decided to stop while Pero Galić turned to a solo career. In May 2026 Opća Opasnost announced a return without Galić and Jovanovac, with guitarist Nenad "Neno" Dujmić and singer Zoran Mišić.
