Yon Idy

Yon Idy is the stage name of Jon Ajdini, a singer, songwriter and guitarist from North Macedonia. He was born in Skopje into an Albanian family, which is why he is on Muzika-Balkan under North Macedonia, and he is still based in Skopje: the city's PIN music conference introduces him as a singer-songwriter based there. He writes and sings in English.

His music is indie pop and pop rock, played mostly on acoustic instruments, with touches of hip hop and soul; he names influences from 1990s hip hop and mainstream pop to the blues, and for "My Fire" he pointed to Leonard Cohen, Muse and the Beatles. He has said he does not want to limit himself to one genre, because a beautiful song is not beautiful because of its style.

His debut single, "Gentle", came out in June 2019 and reached number 12 on the Albanian chart, The Top List. Four more singles followed it onto the Albanian Top 100: "Walking the Line of Love" (2019, number 58), "Waste No Love" (2020, number 86), "Back Around" (2020, number 35) and "Got Me All Down" (2020, number 57). "My Fire" followed in 2021 and "In Time" in 2022.

In 2022 he was one of six artists in Za Evrosong, North Macedonia's selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with "Dreams", which he wrote himself. In the final on 4 February 2022 it placed fifth, with 7 points from the jury and 7 from the online vote. Since then he has released "In My Head", "Blood Red", "Don't Break It", "That Much Is True" and "Know It Always", and the playlist gathers these videos.
