About Werefox
Werefox is a Slovenian alternative rock band, formed in 2012. It is on Muzika-Balkan because it is a Slovenian band, called that by Slovenian Wikipedia and by its label Moonlee Records, and it played its concerts on the Slovenian scene. Its songs are sung in English. The sources do not name the band's home town or say where its members live today.
The band takes its name from the were-fox in Viktor Pelevin's novel The Sacred Book of the Werewolf. Its members were experienced musicians from other Slovenian bands: the singer Melanija Fabčič, known as Melée, and the guitarist Sašo Benko, known as Bekko, had played in Psycho-Path, and the drummer David Halb and the bassist Manuel Hahn in Sphericube. The label also lists Manul, Kleemar and Lollobrigida among the bands its members came from. Hannes Jaeckl plays guitar.
Their debut album, I Am Memory, came out in January 2013 on God Bless This Mess Records. The second, Das Lied der Maschinen (German for "The Song of the Machines"), followed on 4 February 2016 on Moonlee Records, launched with a concert at the MENT festival at Kino Šiška in Ljubljana that Radio Val 202 broadcast live, and a tour that took them to Maribor, Murska Sobota and Novo mesto. Moonlee compared its grungy riffs and big choruses to Queens of the Stone Age and The Dead Weather.
The video for "Triads" was made by the band itself, directed and edited by Manuel Hahn with 3D animation by Martin Ernst, for which the members had their faces scanned. The American experimental hip-hop group Dälek later remixed "Orange Red". In December 2020 the band released Live Radio Session, four live tracks recorded at Radio Študent, which Slovenian Wikipedia describes as its last work before it stopped performing.
