About Joker Out

Joker Out are a pop rock band from Ljubljana, formed in May 2016, who describe their style as "shagadelic rock'n'roll". They represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with "Carpe Diem" and have released three studio albums: Umazane misli (2021), Demoni (2022) and Souvenir Pop (2024).

The band grew out of the break-up of Apokalipsa: three of its members, singer Bojan Cvjetićanin, bassist Martin Jurkovič and drummer Matic Kovačič, joined guitarists Kris Guštin and Jan Peteh from the band Buržuazija. Their first single, "Kot srce, ki kri poganja", came out in November 2016, and in December they opened for Big Foot Mama in Domžale. On 17 June 2017 they won the fourth season of Špil liga, the competition for student bands.

"Gola", their first single with producer Žare Pak, came out on 12 September 2019, and on 2 November they played their first headline concert, at Ljubljana Castle. "Vem, da greš", "Umazane misli" and "A sem ti povedal" followed, and in between Jure Maček replaced Kovačič on drums. "Umazane misli" was voted best new Slovenian song of the year by the audience of the first Frišno/Fresh festival, and the debut album of the same name, delayed by the pandemic, came out in October 2021 with two sold-out nights at Cvetličarna. They won the Zlata piščal for newcomers of the year in 2020 and for artists of the year in 2021 and again in 2022.

Demoni, announced by "Katrina", appeared on 31 August 2022. Its title song was their first single in Serbian and their first release for the former Yugoslav market. That October Martin Jurkovič left to study abroad and Nace Jordan took over on bass. In December 2022 RTV Slovenija chose them for Eurovision. They recorded "Carpe Diem" in Hamburg, sang it entirely in Slovene, qualified from the second semi-final in Liverpool and finished 21st in the final. In April 2023 they also released "New Wave", an English-Slovene version of "Novi val" recorded with Elvis Costello.

Tours across Europe followed, and on 6 October 2023 they sold out the 12,000-capacity Arena Stožice in Ljubljana, and the live album Live from Arena Stožice came out the same year. Souvenir Pop came out on 15 November 2024, followed by the single "Supersonic" in November 2025, also released in Serbian with the singer Devito, and "Odsevi sonca" in 2026. On 20 June 2026 they celebrated ten years with the concert Karneval on Kardeljeva ploščad in Ljubljana, attended by about 17,000 people.
