San Di Ego

San Di Ego, also written San Di EGO, was a Slovenian rock and hard rock band from Ljubljana, active from 2013 to 2024. The first line-up had Sergej Škofljanec on vocals, acoustic guitar and piano, Matic Ajdič on electric guitar, Martin Rozman on bass and Jure Doles on drums, and all four of their studio albums came out on Dallas Records.

Soon after they formed they released their first single, "Zadnji cent", with a video, and in March 2013 they played their launch concert at Orto bar in Ljubljana. The love ballad "Sonce je tam, kjer si ti", a cover of the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive", "Domina", "Izbrisani" and "To je to (za ta denar)" followed, the last of them leading to the debut album San Di Ego on 27 October 2014. In 2015 their version of Aleksander Mežek's "Julija" was the song of the week on Val 202, and the same year they opened for Šank Rock at the comeback concert in Križanke.

On 27 February 2016 they competed at EMA, the Slovenian Eurovision selection, with "Brez tebe", written by Nino Ošlak and Igor Pirkovič. That autumn they released a rock version of Samantha Fox's "Touch Me", and in 2017 Samantha Fox herself joined them on stage at the Pivo in cvetje festival in Laško, where they had first played in 2014. Their second album, Doktor za rock'n'roll, came out in March 2017 and also holds "Gledam tvoje slike" with Aleksander Mežek; the third, Zdaj je čas, followed in 2020.

After that album the line-up changed. Bassist Martin Rozman left in 2020 and was replaced by Mitja Kobal, and in 2021 singer Sergej Škofljanec said goodbye, making way for Matic Nareks. The first single with the new voice was "Vse besede" in August 2021. In 2022 the band took part in the 41st Melodije morja in sonca with "Človek mora imeti sanje", and the singles "Ob meni lepa", "Ko je ni zraven mene" and "Kaj pa ti veš, kaj je rock n roll" came out the same year.

Their fourth studio album, Na drugi strani strahu, was released in 2023. At the end of that year the band announced that, because of other commitments, it would not play concerts in 2024. A live album recorded with Aleksander Mežek, Prešerna noč v Vrbi, had come out in 2021.
