About Trash Candy
Trash Candy are a Slovenian pop punk and rock band, formed in 2009, who sing in English. Since early 2010 they have played mostly on stages around Europe, sharing them with bands such as MxPx, Implants, John Coffey, A Wilhelm Scream, Nations Afire, Elvis Jackson and S.A.R.S.
In 2010 they took part in the project Rokerji pojejo pesnike, setting Ivo Stropnik's poem "Kamna" to music. Their first single and video, "Dance", came out in June 2011, and in September 2011 they released their debut album, What's Your Story?, which could be downloaded for free; all its songs are in English apart from "Kamna". "Once Again" followed in March 2012, and in June 2012 listeners voted them MTV Adria band of the year. They were also nominated for Best Adria Act at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards and released "Remember!" that September, and in April 2013 a do-it-yourself video for "Rush Hour".
Their second album, Running from Something, Searching for Anything, came out in September 2013 on Mascom Records, and soon afterwards they played the European edition of the Vans Warped Tour in Vienna. In 2014 they began working with the booking agency Destiny Tourbooking, drummer Niko Rakušček was replaced by Tomaž Medvar, and they played festivals such as Mair1 and Laut & Bunt in Germany and Mighty Sounds in the Czech Republic. That September singer Pia Tušek left; in December the band introduced its new singer, Špela Gorogranc, known as Shana, with an appearance on the German reality series Berlin – Tag & Nacht on RTL II.
The third album, Focus, came out on 12 October 2015. Its single "Lone Wolf" carried a strong message against hatred, and 24ur.com counted Focus among the twelve best albums of the year. In 2016 Trash Candy released the single and video "Should Have Listened", toured Europe and closed the year at Kurzschluss, and the official video for "Useless" followed.
