About Elvis Jackson

Elvis Jackson is a Slovenian ska punk band from Ajdovščina, in the Northern Primorska region. Formed at the end of 1997, the band mixes ska, punk and hardcore punk with reggae and metal, and is known for its humour and energetic live shows.

The band grew out of several local groups and came together just two days before its first concert in 1997. The original line-up was David Kovšca - Buda on vocals and trumpet, Erik Makuc - Slavc on bass and guitar, Boštjan Beltram - Berto on guitar and Sašo Kotnik - Rado on drums. The drum stool changed hands three times before Marko Soršak - Soki from Maribor took it over, and the line-up today is Buda, Slavc, the guitarist Marty Favento and Soki.

The debut album Move Your Feet It's One O'Clock came out in 1999 on Rock'n'Roll Records and was reissued in 2001, followed by Go Home and Practice in 2000. That same year of 1999 the band wrote the soundtrack for the RTV Slovenia youth film The Angry, and after its first record it toured Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. Summer Edition followed in 2003, released with Grover Records for the German-speaking countries and the Netherlands and with Rude Records for Italy, Spain and Japan.

The fourth album, Against the Gravity, came out in 2009 and was produced by Faith No More's bassist Bill Gould. The same year Elvis Jackson opened for Faith No More on its reunion tour, including festival dates in Romania and Bulgaria. Over the years the band has shared stages with The Toasters, Manu Chao, NOFX, The Offspring, Ska-P, Asian Dub Foundation, Sepultura and Anthrax.

In 2011 the band played the INmusic festival in Zagreb and toured clubs across Great Britain, and listeners of the British radio station and magazine Somojo voted it Band of the Year and Rock Artist of the Year 2011. A longer UK tour followed in March 2012, and in 2019 the band played the Exit festival in Novi Sad. The EP Window came out in 2014, the album Radio Unfriendly in 2015 and We Play For You in 2025.

Among their videos are "Hawaiian Club", made with RTV Slovenia, "Wake Me Up!" from Against the Gravity, and the newer "Whistle Song", "Pouring Rain" and "We Play For You".
