About Vukašin Brajić

Vukašin Brajić, born on 9 February 1984 in Sanski Most, is a Bosnian pop rock singer who came to fame as the runner-up of the first season of Operacija trijumf, the ex-Yugoslav version of Star Academy, and who represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with "Thunder and Lightning".

In 1994, during the war, his family moved to Serbia, first to Mali Požarevac near Sopot and a year later to Čačak, where he finished school. With no money for music lessons he taught himself keyboards and guitar from books and the internet, and he sang in a choir, danced and acted in a drama club. At nineteen he moved to Negotin to study at the teacher training academy.

In Negotin he joined the melodic metal band Affect, which in 2007 released a promo single on PGP-RTS with "Ništa više ne ostaje" and a heavy version of "Ajde Jano". After the band went on hold, he played in the acoustic duo Lucky Luke with Marko Marić.

Operacija trijumf started on 29 September 2008. Brajić survived several public votes, earning the nickname "killer of the favourites", and won praise for rock songs and for an acoustic "More Than Words". He finished second behind Adnan Babajić, with about 330,000 votes. He then joined the OT Bend with three other contestants; they opened for James Blunt in Belgrade in February 2009 and came second at Beovizija 2009 with "Blagoslov za kraj", and they also recorded "Zaboravi" with Karolina Goceva.

On 11 January 2010 the broadcaster BHRT chose him to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina with "Munja i grom", written by Dino Šaran of Letu štuke. Sung in English as "Thunder and Lightning", it placed eighth in the first semi-final in Oslo and then seventeenth of 25 in the final on 29 May 2010, with 51 points. He followed Regina and was followed by Dino Merlin as the Bosnian entrant.

His later singles include "Od svega umoran" with the band AlogiA (2010), "Mogli smo sve" (2013), "Na usnama" (2014) and "Kad se ljubav gasi" (2018).
