About Letu Štuke

Letu štuke is a rock band from Sarajevo, formed in 1986 under the influence of punk and new wave by singer and guitarist Dino Šaran. The name, which translates as "Pike Flight", is a reference to a phrase from the film Kozara, and the band is usually described as alter pop.

The first line-up was Šaran on vocals, Nedim Sinanović on bass, Damir Terzić on guitar and Admir Ahmetović on drums. They played the Sarajevo demo scene of the late 1980s and became a local concert attraction, but the group fell apart before it could release an album. Šaran spent the following years in Zagreb, writing songs for Croatian performers.

Back in Sarajevo, Šaran revived the band in 2004 with a new line-up and with producer, arranger and percussionist Đani Pervan, a member of Darko Rundek's Cargo Orkestar. The first song they recorded was "Sunce", a duet with Rundek. Signed to the Croatian label Menart in spring 2005, they released the debut album Letu štuke in November 2005, with "Mjesto za dvoje" as the first radio single and "Minimalizam", "Tepsija", "Signali", "Grad bez boje" and "Pero Papacoder" among its best-known songs. The record made their name in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia, and in 2006 it earned seven Davorin nominations and three awards: urban rock/club album, urban song for "Minimalizam" and rock urban club act of the year.

Proteini i ugljikohidrati followed in spring 2008, recorded at the Sing Sing studio in the Netherlands and again produced by Pervan. It gave the singles "Tesla", "Bella Donna", "Psycho" and "Mali", the unofficial hit "Paranoja" and "Poljubi je dok spava", a duet with Remi of Elemental. Guitarist Emir Jugo and keyboard player Bojan Ahac joined for Brojevi računa (2011), whose bonus track "Minute" came from the soundtrack of the film Čuvari noći.

After a Best of collection in 2017, Topla voda appeared on Menart in November 2018, with the singles "Topla voda", "Bože zdravlja" and "Supermarket" and a song featuring Dubioza kolektiv. In 2018 the band received the authors' association AMUS award named after Kemal Monteno, for popular music, and in 2020 they were nominated for pop rock song at the MAC awards.

Their fifth album, Eter, came out on 8 May 2026, the band's first new music in eight years: ten songs, all written by Šaran, including the singles "Ljudska prava", "Idemo pjesmo" and "Stvoreni od zvijezda". It was recorded by Šaran, Dejan Ostojić on bass, Emir Jugo on guitar, Boban Ćosić on keyboards and Nedžad Mulaomerović on drums, with Alan Omerović, a member in the late 1980s, producing. In October 2026 the band sold out Sarajevo's Dom mladih and took the album to Zagreb's Boogaloo, with Skroz as special guests.
