About Valentino Bošković

Valentino Bošković is a Croatian band from Split that calls its music cosmic pop. Behind the name are Branko Dragičević and Josip Radić. The project began in the winter of 2013 in Split, which is why it is filed under Croatia here; today one member lives in Split and the other in Zagreb, so they play together whenever they meet.

The two first played together around 2003 in an earlier line-up, and they met on Bačvice beach in Split, through drummer Srđan Jeličić. Before the band existed they swapped home recordings online, trying to make the worst song possible. The first real song was recorded in English, and from that session Valentino Bošković was born.

What sets the band apart is the language: the lyrics are in the dialect of the island of Brač as it was spoken in the mid-17th century, and they tell, with a lot of humour, of space and space travel. The band describes itself as a mix of David Bowie, Daft Punk, Syd Barrett and Novi fosili.

The albums VSSR in 2014 and Marsovska listina in 2016 were self-released, followed by the EP MARS, MARS, MARS on Balkan Veliki in 2017 and the compilation Vodič kroz galaksiju za redikule in 2018, which marked five years of the band with the bonus track "Milde Sorte". In 2018 they released "Adio, Trafikonte" together with TBF, and in 2019 a single dedicated to Queen's guitarist Brian May. Velika praska came out in 2020.

Their best-loved songs include "Ritki zrok", "Leteće banane", "Sudnji Don", "Roketomobil", "Adeyata" and "Pippanonna". The playlist is the band's own channel, where Amira Medunjanin also sings "Adio, Trafikonte".
