About Kensington Lima

Kensington Lima is a rock band from Zagreb, formed in 2018 and based in the city. It was founded by guitarist, singer and songwriter Josip Radić, who also plays in Valentino Bošković, Pavel, the Beatles Revival Band and Buđenje. With him are singer Lovorka Sršen, guitarist Danijel Benko, bassist Karlo Kurtalj and drummer Jere Šešelja, and most of their songs are in English.

Their debut album, May, came out in October 2018. Critics filed it under a genre of its own, "cassette pop": different strands of rock and roll, Americana, acoustic folk and electronic ambient sounds that take the listener back to the days of cassettes, landline telephones and coffee grinders. Recorded over two years between Zagreb, Rijeka and Split with producer Marko Mrakovčić, its twelve songs feature guests such as Luka Norac, Aljoša Šerić, Hrvoje Prskalo and Neno Belan, and it closes with "Summer's Gone", the song Belan recorded in Croatian as "Lito umire". In February 2019 the album earned the band a Porin nomination for best new act.

Radić also writes for and works with other artists, among them Neno Belan, Lovorka Sršen, Yaya and Cambi with TBF. The second album, Southbound (2021), won Kensington Lima the Rock&Off award for artist of the year. The third, The Beat That Saved Our Lives, came out in October 2024, and the band calls it their rawest yet, recorded mostly live in the studio.

The playlist is the band's own channel, with "Knebworth", "Sleep Tight", "Stay Bright" and "Dolly", both albums in full, and covers of Paul McCartney and the Beach Boys.
