Pavel

Pavel is a Croatian rock and pop band from Zagreb, built around the singer and acoustic guitarist Aljoša Šerić and the singer Antonia Matković, who are married. With piano, guitar, bass, drums, trumpet and violin the group has eight members, and they sing about life and love.

The band signed a joint record deal with Dallas Records and released its debut album, Pavel, in 2007. It was followed by Od prve zvijezde ravno (2012), I mi smo došli na red (2014), Družba krivih odluka (2017), Ennui (2020) and FM/AM (2024), all on Dallas Records. They won over audiences and critics quickly, and "Poslije nas" topped the charts and was nominated for a Porin in three categories: song of the year, best production and best performance by a group with vocals.

In February 2017 they released "Lažu devedesete", a single from Družba krivih odluka with lyrics by Šerić, produced by Srđan Sekulović Skansi. Šerić explained that the 1990s were the decade of his adolescence, of first parties, loves and kisses, and that time and memory make that decade look better than it was.

Jurica Hotko on piano, Stipe Mađor on trumpet and Dean Melki on violin have been there since the start; guitarist Toni Tkalec and drummer Filip Hrelja joined in 2020 and bassist Josip Radić in 2021. In October 2021 Vanda Winter stepped in as a temporary singer while Antonia was on maternity leave. Pavel are close friends of the band Vatra, a friendship that grew into a working collaboration as well. They have also recorded "Ne daj na nas" with Tedi Spalato and "Dani koji sjaje" with Sanja, Marinko i Zec.

In 2024 Pavel took part in Dora, the Croatian Eurovision selection, with "Do mjeseca" and went through from their semi-final on 22 February. The playlist here is Dallas Records' collection of their videos, from "Dobra stvar" and "Čuvaj me" to "Bijela jedra" and the Penthouse sessions.
