SYTË

SYTË is an alternative pop band from Kosovo, led by the singer Nita Kaja and the producer Drin Tashi. The name means "eyes" in Albanian. The two formed the band in 2018 in Pristina, and that is why it is on Muzika-Balkan: SYTË started out as a Pristina band and grew up on the Kosovo scene before moving abroad. At the end of 2022 the band moved to New York City, where it is based today. They sing in English.

Kaja and Tashi soon became a four-piece when the bassist Fatlind Ferati and the drummer Granit Havolli joined. Their first release, simply called EP, came out on 12 July 2018, and the same year they played the Sunny Hill Festival in Pristina. In 2019 they appeared at the Pop-Kultur festival in Berlin.

In August 2019 they released the single "Feel It All", and in March 2020 "Tail Light", which announced their debut album Divine Computer (2020). The single "The End" was listed on the Albanian "Top Awards" chart in January 2021. In April 2021 they worked with the London-based singer Qendresa on the single and video "Up in the Air". "Where Did the Love Go" followed in March 2022 and "Sirena" in September.

In New York they played clubs such as Baby's All Right, Elsewhere Zone 1, Pianos and Our Wicked Lady. In 2023 they released "Bungee Jumping", "Yours for Life" and "I'll Take You", which were collected on the EP You Know That, Right? on 3 November 2023. The EP was picked for Spotify playlists such as Fresh Finds, New Pop Picks and Good Vibes, and put SYTË on the cover of Fresh Finds Pop. Today the band is the duo of Kaja and Tashi.

The singles kept coming: "Beat Goes On" and "Give Enough" in 2024, "Stay With Me" and "Hate Me Back" in 2025, and "Go Ahead", "What's Ur Sign?" and "Give Me a Month" in 2026, along with the EPs Perfect Timing (2025) and Illusions Are Over (2026). The band names Solange Knowles, Julian Casablancas, Thundercat, Marvin Gaye and Radiohead among its influences. The playlist gathers their official videos.
