About Songkillers

Songkillers are a funk and pop band from Zagreb, formed in 1993 and led by the songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist Željko Banić "Bane". They are on Muzika-Balkan as a Croatian band founded in Zagreb, the city where they started out and recorded. Croatian Wikipedia gives their years of activity as 1993 to the present but does not say where the band is based today.

They began at the Zagreb club Saloon, playing rock, soul, funk and pop standards, and at first worked as a backing band. In the early 1990s they played behind Dino Dvornik, and with him they recorded the live album Live In München in 1995, later nominated for a Porin as best concert album. In those years they also worked with Oliver Dragojević, Vanna, Radojka Šverko and Davor Gobac of Psihomodo Pop.

As a band in their own right they released their first album, Fleka, in 1997. It held their hits "Ni'ko kao ti" and "Ne znam gdje sam", the second of which was used in Goran Rušinović's film Mondo Bobo, and in 1998 Songkillers won the Porin for best new artist. Cosmic followed the same year, then Mislima (2002), Sreća (2005) and Sve je drugo igra (2008), on Aquarius Records and Croatia Records. "Molim sate", "Tako volim što te znam" and "Sreća" are among their best-known songs.

The compilations 14 (Best Of) in 2004, Fleka/Cosmic in 2010 and Dio mene (Best Of 1997.–2014.) in 2014 collected their work. The title song of the last one, "Dio mene", recorded with Nikola Marjanović, was nominated for a Porin for best vocal collaboration in 2015.

Besides Bane, the current line-up named by Croatian Wikipedia is Gojko Tomljanović on keyboards, Danko Krznarić on Hammond organ and Ivica Premelč on saxophone. The playlist here is their Topic channel, with duets such as "Egoist" with Dino Dvornik and "Revolucija" with Goran Bare of Majke.
