About Sassja

Sassja, born Sanela Halilović (now Josipović), is a hip-hop artist from Bosnia and Herzegovina whose songs lean on reggae and dancehall. She was born in Tuzla in 1988 and still lives there, which is why she is on Muzika-Balkan under Bosnia. She studied pharmacy in Tuzla.

She sang already in secondary school and also acted; she was in choirs and bands and in the Youth Theatre of Tuzla. In 2010 she released a home-made video for her song "Ostavi da gori" and began to play around Bosnia and Herzegovina and the neighbouring countries, including EXIT in 2011 and the Reggaeneracija Dunava festival in Bački Monoštor. Her first release, Demo 2010/11, had seven songs, made with Kantriman, Jah Billah and the Croatian producer Koolade.

Her first proper album, Taktički praktično, came out in 2015, and the hits "Clash" and "Etikete" took her near the top of the regional charts. "Clash" was also picked for MTV Adria's list of the twenty best videos of the region. The album has "Ragga naš" with Frenkie, "Trepere mi živci" with Who See and "Jemen", a song about the senselessness of war and greed. In 2016 she played a 90-minute concert in Zagreb.

The second album, No Problemo, followed in 2017, with "Stube", "Beton", "Njemica", "Ništa" and "Savana" with Darko Rundek. She is the leading woman of the Bosnian collective FM JAM. She has also recorded "Ovce" with Brkovi (2016), "Kupi nas Ali" with Zabranjeno Pušenje (2018), "Raggamuffin Rising" with Banana Zvuk (2021) and songs with Dedduh and Tendo, and her third album, 'Chwakka, came out in 2024.

The playlist is the album No Problemo, from the title song to "Savana".
