Sara Jo

Sara Jo, born Sara Jovanović on 29 October 1993 in Rome, is a Serbian pop singer. Her father worked for the Serbian Foreign Ministry, and she grew up speaking both Serbian and Italian. In 2009 the family moved for good to Belgrade, where she finished the Third Belgrade Gymnasium and studied Italian at the Faculty of Philology, and where her music career began.

She first became known on the talent show Prvi glas Srbije in 2012, where she reached the final and finished third, and in 2013 she was runner-up in the first season of Tvoje lice zvuči poznato. That same year she, Nevena Božović and Mirna Radulović formed the trio Moje 3, which won the national vote with 42.5% and sang "Ljubav je svuda" for Serbia at Eurovision 2013 in Malmö, finishing eleventh in the first semi-final. Around the same time she sang on four tracks of the rapper MCN's 2012 album Ćelija 44, recorded "Ujutru" with Marko Mandić and joined the 2013 charity single "Molio sam anđele".

As a solo artist she released "Ko je ovde ko" on IDJTunes in 2014, followed by "Mahovina", "Probaj", "Nemam vremena za to", "Lava", "Bez sna", "Mili, mili" and "Kaži mi". "Varalica" was a duet with Edita Aradinović, and in 2022 she finished second in the Serbian Eurovision selection with "Muškarčina". Her debut album Bez kontrole came out on Bassivity Digital in June 2023, with "Divlja", "Zar ne" and "Sandra Meljničenko" featuring Mimi Mercedez; "Divlja" won Music Video of the Year at the 2023 Music Awards Ceremony.

Sara Jo was nominated for Best Adria Act at the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards. Beyond music she has played Cinderella on stage, appeared in the series Sinđelići and voiced Lola Bunny in the Serbian version of Space Jam: A New Legacy. Her official videos are gathered here.
