About Rancore
Rancore is the stage name of Tarek Iurcich, an Italian rapper born in Rome on 19 July 1989. The name is Italian for "resentment". He is on Muzika-Balkan because of his father's side: English Wikipedia and the Italian press describe his father as Croatian and his mother as Egyptian, and Italian Wikipedia adds that the family on his father's side is Istrian and that his paternal grandfather came from Rijeka, then called Fiume.
He grew up in Tufello, a working-class neighbourhood on the northern edge of Rome, and has named songs after it. In 2020 Donna Glamour reported that he still lived in Rome, in the same neighbourhood where he was born and raised.
He started rapping at fourteen, in 2004, at the weekly improvisation night Phat Roma, first under the alias Lirike Taglienti. Freestyle battles such as Underground Skillz 2006 helped his first album, Segui me, which came out in August 2006. The EP S.M.S. followed in 2008, and with the producer DJ Myke he made Acustico (2010), Elettrico (2011) and Silenzio (2012). At the MTV Spit Gala in 2011 he tied with Clementino.
After the EPs S.U.N.S.H.I.N.E. (2015) and La morte di RINquore (2016) he released Musica per bambini in 2018, with the singles "Underman" and "Depressissimo". In 2019 he joined Daniele Silvestri and Manuel Agnelli on "Argentovivo" at the Sanremo festival. The song placed sixth and won the critics' prize, the press room prize and the Sergio Bardotti prize for the best lyrics.
A year later he was in the Sanremo competition himself with "Eden", produced with Dardust. He finished tenth and again took the Sergio Bardotti prize for the best lyrics. Singles such as "Luce (Tramonti a nord est)" with La Rappresentante di Lista, "Razza aliena" and "Equatore" with Margherita Vicario followed, then the album Xenoverso in 2022 and Tarek da Colorare in 2026.
Rancore is known for dense, wordy verses and a strong freestyle background. The playlist here is his official channel, with the Xenoverso songs, live takes of "Freccia" and "Ombra" and his newest videos.
