Nihad Alibegović is a folk and pop-folk singer, songwriter and producer, born on 1 January 1962 in Gornji Vakuf. His family comes from the nearby village of Voljice. He moved to Sarajevo as a teenager, and that is where his love of music began.
In 1982 he won an amateur singers' competition in Sarajevo, and two years later Belgrade's Jugodisk released his first album, Galebe moj (1984). Plači sa mnom violino followed in 1985. After a long pause he came back in the 1990s with Tebe nema (1992), Ljubi, ljubi mene ti (1993), Zakletva (1994) and Zvijezda sreće (1999), and went on with Nemoj, pa se ne boj (2002), Noćas s' tobom ostajem (2004) and Produži moj život (2006).
His tenth album, Zelena, came out in May 2008, and the eleventh, Blago meni, followed in 2010 on BN Music. In 2011 he recorded "Dva jarana", a pop rock duet written by the Bosnian-German songwriter Amir Jesenković; it was first planned with Enes Begović but was finally sung with Mladen Vojičić Tifa. Samo za nju followed in 2012. Over the years he has worked with labels such as Jugodisk, Sarajevo Disk, Gold Music, Hayat Production and BN Music, and he is now with Grand Production.
In a 2016 interview he said his unfulfilled wish was to fill the Skenderija hall in Sarajevo. He keeps recording, with newer songs such as "Hana", "Detektivi" and "1000 noći", and in 2023 he sang "Hej zoro ne svani" and "Dijamanti" live at Vrata Balkana.
