About Tifa
Mladen Vojičić Tifa is a Bosnian rock singer, born on 17 October 1960 in Sarajevo, whose music ranges over hard rock, heavy metal and folk rock. His nickname comes from his childhood mispronunciation of "lokomotiva". He enrolled at several faculties of the University of Sarajevo but left each of them for music.
He began as a bass player in Prvi čin and first sang in Kako kad, when its singer missed a rehearsal. Paradox was his last band before military service in October 1980, and he then sang in Top until January 1983. Early in 1984 Goran Bregović invited him to join Bijelo Dugme as the replacement for Željko Bebek. He sang on the album Bijelo Dugme (1984) and on the tour that followed, played his last concert with them in Moscow on 2 August 1985 and was out of the band by October. He was also briefly close to Teška Industrija, writing lyrics for their album Ponovo s vama (1984).
In 1986 he sang on Vatreni Poljubac's album 100% Rock 'n' Roll, and in 1988 he replaced Alen Islamović in Divlje Jagode for the album Konji, which includes "Zauvijek tvoj". His solo albums include No.1 (1989), Samo ljubav postoji (1990), Dani bez tebe (1995), Grbavica (1997), Ostaću s'tobom (2000), the live Live – Skenderija 05. 10. 2001 and Spreman sam na sve (2013). The title song "Grbavica" became an anthem of the supporters of FK Željezničar Sarajevo, who sing it at home matches.
Tifa spent most of the siege in Sarajevo, recording "Šareni dan" there, and in 1995 left for Germany for a time before coming home. In June 2005 he returned to Bijelo Dugme for the three farewell concerts in Sarajevo, Zagreb and Belgrade, and in 2006 he formed Kad Bi Bio Bijelo Dugme with Bebek and Islamović, touring the world until the end of 2010. He shared the Sunčane skale award in 2000 with Makadam. He lives in Sarajevo.
