About Molika

Molika is a Macedonian band from Bitola, formed in 1992, best known for its work with singer Aneta Micevska. They play Macedonian folk and popular songs, and their concerts go far beyond one language: they sing in Macedonian, Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian, Bulgarian and Aromanian, as well as English, French and Italian.

The best-known line-up had Aneta Micevska on lead vocals, singer Jovica Naumčevski, Žiso Purovski on keyboards and accordion, Rubin Razmovski on saxophone, clarinet and traditional Macedonian wind instruments, Džimi Micevski on keyboards and Aleksandar Talevski on drums. Together, Molika and Aneta Micevska recorded seven albums and four DVD music specials.

The band became a favourite of the Macedonian diaspora and toured widely: Australia, the United States and Canada, Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Denmark, Austria and Italy, as well as Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. They played a big Easter concert in Melbourne and live shows in Sarajevo.

In Bitola they were honoured as the city's most successful performing group. In Bosnia and Herzegovina they won the "Oskar na popularnosta" award three years running, in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and Aneta Micevska was given the title "Vokal na site vreminja". In 2015 they signed with Grand Production in Belgrade and released a Serbian-language album there.

Their own story became a film. Patot do kengurite (The Road to the Kangaroos, 2012) is a full-length comedy musical in which the band members star alongside the Macedonian comedy group Solzi i Smea, retelling their quest to perform in Australia. It was named the most popular film release from Bitola that year. Aneta Micevska has since left the group.
