About Martina Majerle

Martina Majerle is a Croatian pop singer, born on 2 May 1980 in Rijeka. Her grandfather was from Slovenia, and alongside her work in Croatia she has built a second career there. She has been singing since 1997: first as the lead singer of the Rijeka group Putokazi, then as the soloist of the ambient electro-pop group Atmospheric.

Much of her work has been in the background, as one of the singers behind the stars. She has sung backing vocals for Oliver Dragojević at the Royal Albert Hall in London, for Tereza Kesovija and Zdravko Čolić at the Olympia in Paris, and for Severina, Massimo Savić, Nina Badrić, Tony Cetinski, Doris Dragović and the bands Novi fosili and Parni valjak. She is a member of the Croatian Radiotelevision orchestra and has sung on HRT shows such as The Voice, Dora and Porin.

Martina Majerle has been on the Eurovision stage eight times. She sang backing vocals for Croatia with Claudia Beni in 2003, for Slovenia with Alenka Gotar in 2007, for Montenegro with Stefan Filipović in 2008, for Slovenia with Maja Keuc in 2011 and Eva Boto in 2012, for Montenegro with Sergej Ćetković in 2014 and for Croatia with Nina Kraljić in 2016. In 2009 she stepped to the front as the singer of the string quartet Quartissimo: their "Love Symphony" won the Slovenian selection EMA and represented Slovenia in Moscow, where it did not get past the second semi-final.

In Slovenia she recorded Slovenian songs with the songwriter Dare Kaurič, among them "Čokolada in vanilija" and "Luna nad obalo", and she competed in EMA 2015 with "Alive". She was a singer on POP TV's Zvezde plešejo in 2018 and a contestant in the sixth season of Znan obraz ima svoj glas in 2022. With Chrisma Project and Mr. B she covered "Kalimba de Luna".

In Croatia she made her debut at the Split festival in 2011 with "Neka se dogodi čudo" and has since won awards at several Croatian festivals. "Teče, teče rečina" took third place with the audience at Melodije Istre i Kvarnera in 2017 and "Na Trsatu" the second audience award in 2018. At Čansonfest in Kastav "Leja le lej" won the award for best interpretation in 2019, and in 2025 "Jutra rano gren" won three main awards. In 2020 "Volin kad si tu" was third with the jury at Večeri dalmatinske šansone in Šibenik, and in 2021 she represented Croatia at the Albanian festival Kënga Magjike with "Vrijeme je na našoj strani".
