About Macao Band
Macao Band is a pop band from Livno in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Livno is still its home. That is why it is on Muzika-Balkan under Bosnia: Croatian Wikipedia describes it simply as a band from Livno, and several of its songs are about its own region, from "Srce kupreško" to "Rodno Livno".
The band has been playing since 2005. It was founded by the drummer Tomislav Maleta-Tone, who is also its frontman and manager, and the singer Jakov Kasalo. The line-up named on Croatian Wikipedia is completed by the singer Ana Pavić, the keyboard player Dejan Miloloža, the guitarist Tonći Trboglav and the bassist Josip Maglica.
Their first single, the duet "Čekat ću te ja", came out in 2006. It was written by Miroslav Mišo Bartulica, the frontman of the Sarajevo band Bolero. "Srce kupreško" followed in 2007, recorded with the folklore society KUD Napredak from Kupres, and in 2009 "Dika sa Dinare" with the Livno society KUD Podinarje Lištani. In 2011 came "Naša priča" and "Majka sina ženi", which became a big radio hit.
Macao Band waited nine years for its first album. Naša priča has twelve songs: nine new ones in the band's own pop sound and three bonus tracks. The title song was first played at the Melodije Mostara festival in 2011 and won the third audience prize there, and "Momačko veče" won the diaspora prize at the same festival in 2013. Jole and Jozo Vučić are guests on the album, on "Ljubav nam je vodilja" and "Bez ljubavi".
The band went back to Melodije Mostara in 2017 with "Moja rano" and took the second audience prize. It often plays on television, above all in the show Pisme za dušu on TV Jadran. In August 2024 it played the charity concert Srce Livna in its home town, and in 2025 it released "Zapjevajte s nama". The playlist gathers the official videos, songs from Naša priča and a live recording from Srce Livna.
