About Luke Black

Luke Black is the stage name of Luka Ivanović, a Serbian singer and songwriter born on 18 May 1992 in Čačak. His music draws on electropop and experimental pop. He started writing lyrics at twelve and a few years later began making and producing his own music. After grammar school in Čačak he moved to Belgrade to study English language and literature. He has said that "Luke" is simply his first name in English, while "Black" goes back to his teenage years, when he held forty days of mourning for what he called the death of the Serbian music scene.

A performance of his song "D-Generation" caught the attention of Universal Music Group, and he became the first Serbian artist signed to the label. The Belgrade collective Zemlja Gruva helped him with his first recordings and gave him his first concert, at the Belgrade Youth Center in 2014. "D-Generation" and "Holding on to Love" came out in 2015, followed by the debut EP Thorns in September. In 2016 "Demons" was a candidate to represent Serbia at Eurovision, but the national broadcaster chose Sanja Vučić. That year he toured China, and "Walpurgis Night" followed in 2017, later included on the EP Neoslavic (2018).

After a break he returned in 2021 with "A House on the Hill" from the EP F23.8. In 2023 he won the Serbian selection Pesma za Evroviziju with "Samo mi se spava", coming second with both the televoters and the jury, and represented Serbia in Liverpool, where he reached the final and finished 24th. In December 2023 he played a sold-out concert at the Belgrade Youth Center, joined by friends including Konstrakta.

His first full album, Chainsaws in Paradise, came out in May 2024, led by the title track, "Winter Dahlia" and "Drinking Jack With Daddy", and he played the main stage of the Exit festival that summer. "Batshit", "Vomit" and "Roses in the Concrete" followed, and his second album, Parasite, was released in March 2026. Luke Black lives in London, where he studied music production. The playlist gathers his official videos, from "D-Generation" to "Parasite".
