Lepa Lukić

Lepa Lukić, born Lepava Mušović on 13 January 1940 in the village of Miločaj near Kraljevo, is a Serbian folk singer, actress and television personality whose career spans six decades. Her father died when she was two, and she was singing in her village by the age of ten.

She began professionally in the 1960s with duets with Mića Stojanović and Gvozden Radičević, but wanted to sing alone. The composer Petar Tanasijević gave her "Od izvora dva putića", her first solo success in the mid-1960s and still one of her signature songs. Her voice is known for its ease, precise intonation and rich ornaments, and many of her songs are about village life, old customs and nostalgia.

At the Beogradski sabor festival she won with "Poljubi me, dragi" (1970), "Ne pitaj me" (1971), "Oj, meseče, zvezdo sjajna" (1972), "Sine, sine moj" (1974) and "Kad' bi znala da me sanjaš" (1975), and at Ilidža in 1969 "Oplakana ljubav" took the audience's first prize. Through the 1970s and 1980s she sang at the Hit parada again and again, with songs such as "Izvini, al' mnogo mi je žao" (second in 1978), "Da li ćeš me voleti k'o sada" and "Srce je moje violina" (1989), which became her biggest hit.

Lepa Lukić made some thirty LPs, from Od izvora dva putića (1973) through Čaj za dvoje (1984), Ispovest jedne žene (1988), Kraljica bez krune (1993) and Četiri kćeri (2009) to Proleće leto jesen zima (2013). Her other well-known songs include "Varaš me, varaš me", "Zorane", "Šta je ljubav nisam znala", "Opančići na kljunčiće" and the duet "Naslednica" with Ivana Đorđević.

She acted in the film I Bog stvori kafansku pevačicu (1972), where critics praised her, in Paja i Jare (1973) and in Kursadžije (2009). She was a friend of Silvana Armenulić and was meant to sing at her last concert in 1976. In 2019 she received the national award for estrada artists at the Sabor narodne muzike Srbije, and in 2024 the gold Medal for Merit. She announced her last solo concert for 27 September 2023 at Dom sindikata in Belgrade.
