About Klapa Sinj

Klapa Sinj is a klapa, a Dalmatian a cappella vocal group, from the town of Sinj in the Cetina valley. It was founded there in 1982 and is still based there, which is why it is on this site. Croatian Wikipedia calls it the third landmark of Sinj, after Our Lady of Sinj and the Sinjska alka.

The group sings traditional Dalmatian songs a cappella, along with arrangements of newer songs from the region. It has kept singing without a break since 1982, with members such as Stipe and Ivica Breko, Frano Grčić, Dinko Šarić, Boris Žanko, Mario Đidara, Mojimir Čačija, Ivan and Ante Milun, Dario Sablić and Ivica Mastelić.

At the Omiš festival of Dalmatian klapas, the main stage for the genre, Klapa Sinj has won eighteen medals. Abroad it won first prize at a festival in Verona in 1997, first prize for interpretation and second place overall at a choral festival in Prague in 1998, and first prize at an a cappella competition in Bolzano in 2002. The group has sung on three continents: across Europe from Portugal to Hungary, in South Africa and in the United States.

It has made six recordings, among them Mediterranean Sounds, Croatia's Mystic Voices (2005), recorded in the church of Our Lady of Sinj.

The playlist gathers their songs, from "Cetina" and "Lipe riči" to "Zvizde mi kažu".
