About Klapa Maslina

Klapa Maslina is a klapa, a Dalmatian a cappella vocal group, from Šibenik and one of the longest-standing klapas of the Šibenik area. It is on Muzika-Balkan as a Šibenik klapa: its Croatia Records album carries the name Klapa 'Maslina', Šibenik, and its songs sing of the town, as in "Šibeniče, ti si stina" and "Šibeniku gradu". The group is led by its tenor and soloist, Branko Bubica.

Over a career of more than twenty years the klapa has worked with many composers, among them Arsen Dedić, Andrej Baša, Krsto Juras, Joško Banov and Dušan Šarac. Arsen Dedić said of them: "Klapa Maslina is the rightful heir to the best of Šibenik singing, from the tavern to the concert hall."

At the Split Festival they won the Toma Bebić award for the best Dalmatian song with "Ostala si ista". Their greatest success is "Da te mogu pismom zvati", written by Ivica Badurina, Frane Bilić and Andrej Baša, which became the most performed klapa song. "Dalmatinske oči plave" was sung at the Split festival in 1995, and songs such as "Ostavit te neću", "Marice" and "Tvoja ljubav leti" are on their records with Croatia Records.

Branko Bubica has received the award of the City of Šibenik and of Šibenik-Knin County, the town's coat of arms for an outstanding contribution to culture and the Croatian Musicians Union's Status award for forty years of artistic work. The klapa still records: "Maslina je neobrana" came out in 2026.
