KBO!

KBO! is a Serbian punk rock and hardcore band from Kragujevac, formed in January 1982 by four seventeen-year-old school friends: the guitarists Saša Vujić and Aleksandar Vojinović, the bassist Milorad Mišić and the drummer Rajko Todosavljević. It is called the first punk band of Kragujevac, and its name imitates the croak of a cartoon frog, written in Cyrillic.

After military service the rhythm section left; Saša Vujić took over the vocals and his brother Slobodan joined on drums in 1986. The band's first recordings came out on the English compilations International Brigade (1984) and Liberate (1985), and from 1986 to 1989 KBO! released its own demos, Tama, Nove obrade starih stvari, !OBK, Live in Budapest and Moja sloboda, through its label KBO! Records, which still releases all its official music.

KBO! played abroad early: Budapest in 1988, Thessaloniki and Vienna in 1989, where they opened for Gorilla Biscuits, then Belgium and the Netherlands in 1991 and Skopje and Slovenia in 1992. The albums Forever Punk (Wipe Out Records) and Pozovi 93 (Start Today Records) were followed by Za jedan korak, released in 1992 by the French label Onkra, and Svetlo ludila (1997), with punk takes on Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" and Theodorakis.

The covers album (Ne) Menjajte stanicu (2001) has songs by ABBA, Električni Orgazam, Pet Shop Boys and Mike Oldfield, and Drugarska stvar came out in 2002. That year the band also recorded Indexi's "Bacila je sve niz rijeku" for the film Ringeraja. In 2005 Ivan Ivezić of Thimble replaced Vojinović. The seventh studio album, Prosta proza, was announced in 2010 with the single "Tačka", and in 2014 KBO! covered Novembar's "Blues južne pruge" for a tribute album.
