Jordan Mitev

Jordan Mitev is a Macedonian folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, born on 13 August 1986 in Radoviš. He comes from the nearby village of Podareš, where he still lives, and sings Macedonian folk songs and new songs in the folk style, many of them his own.

He went to primary school in Podareš and on to school in Radoviš, then to the secondary music school "Sergej Mihajlov" in Štip. After that he studied for four years at the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje, music theory and pedagogy with folk instruments, learning above all from Dragan Dautovski. He plays the harmonica, piano, kaval and gaida and has trained his voice.

His first video, "Koga trgnav Cveto vo tudjina", came out in 2006, followed by "Makedonsko da zaigrame" (2007), "Srcevo ušte čuva mesto za tebe" (2008) and "Kamenot si teži na mestoto" (2009), and then new songs nearly every year: "Moja posledna" (2013), "Ljubovta i merakot se najskapite" (2015), "Samo tebe jas te sakam" (2016), "Nazdravi za ljubov, nazdravi za srekja", "Za tebe" and "Roden kraj" (2019), "Žena za 100 godini" (2020), "Tatko" (2021) and "Srekjo moja, srekja si mi ti" and "Denes mi e dobro na dušičkata" (2023).

In 2015 Jordan Mitev marked ten years on stage with a solo concert accompanied by Grupa Akademci, and he also performs with the group Skopski Boemi. He has sung at international ethno-music festivals in Slovakia, France, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden and has given seminars on Macedonian folklore. Some of his compositions have won awards in Macedonia.

He also writes for other singers: Gonce Gogova sings several of his songs with him, among them "Koga žena ljubi silno" and "Ti si samo moj", and he has sung "Nazdravi za ljubov, nazdravi za srekja" live with Memorija. In 2022 he sang "Pusta želba neostvarena" at Prilep Fest, and his newer singles include "Ohrid", "Sine, sine moj" and "Eh što imam bračedi" (2025) and "Pesna za kalugjerica" (2026).
