About Ipče Ahmedovski

Ipče Ahmedovski, born Ejup Ahmedovski on 6 January 1966 in Lažani near Prilep, was a folk singer from Macedonia who made his whole career in Serbia. He was the younger brother of the singer Jašar Ahmedovski. As a boy he often sang in his father's kafana, and he moved to Belgrade young to start singing professionally.

His first album, Bila si devojčica godina mojih (1986), was recorded with the composer Rade Vučković and the orchestra of Tomica Miljić. The albums he then made with the composer Novica Urošević, Činio sam čuda (1990), Luda devojka (1992) and Ciganske duše (1993), made him one of the most popular folk singers of the early 1990s, especially with young listeners across the former Yugoslavia. His records came out on Jugodisk, Diskos and Juvekomerc.

He sang "Činio sam čuda" at the Poselo godine 202 show in 1990, "Noćna mora" and "Luda devojka" there in 1992 and "Oči crne, oči plave" in 1993, and "Ne ljubi skitnicu" at MESAM in 1992. Other favourites include "Dođi da ludujemo", "Daj mi Bože" and "Kad nestanem jednog dana".

Ipče Ahmedovski died on 30 July 1994, aged 28, in a car accident on the Ibar highway near Šopić, close to Lazarevac, and was buried in his native Lažani. Jašar later dedicated the songs "Tamo si ti", "Spavaj, spavaj ti" and "Nebo tajnu krije" to him.
