BQL

BQL are a Slovenian pop duo from Prevalje, formed in 2016 by the brothers Rok Piletič (vocals, piano, guitar) and Anej Piletič (vocals, guitar). The name is shorthand for the phrase "be cool". They were the first Slovenian act to take at least two singles to number one on SloTop50, the official Slovenian weekly chart.

Both brothers first appeared on the talent show Slovenija ima talent: Rok in the first season in 2010 and again in the third in 2013, and Anej as a finalist of the fourth season in 2014. In 2015 they began posting cover versions together on social media, and their version of "Ledena" by Siddharta drew the most attention.

Their first single, "Muza", came out in June 2016. It was made with the songwriter and producer Raay and his wife Marjetka Vovk of Maraaya, who took the brothers under their wing. "Muza" topped SloTop50 and was the fourth most-played Slovenian song on the radio that year. At EMA 2017 they sang "Heart of Gold", which won the most votes from viewers, but fourth place with the jury left them second overall. The song spent four weeks at number one on SloTop50.

In November 2017 they released "Ni predaje, ni umika" with Nika Zorjan, and on 1 January 2018 the single "Zimska". They returned to EMA in 2018 with "Ptica" and again finished second, once more top with the audience but short of the jury votes. Their third EMA, in 2022, brought third place with "Maj".

In June 2022 they won the sixth season of the TV show Znan obraz ima svoj glas, a day after releasing "Raketa" as BQL & Budale with their backing band. In 2023 Anej stepped back to work only as songwriter and producer, and since "Zate vse" in October 2023 Rok has performed alone, still under the name BQL.
