About Beti Đorđević
Beti Đorđević, born Blaguna Stojanović and also known as Blagica Đorđević, was a Serbian singer of jazz and soul. She was born in Kumanovo, in today's North Macedonia, and spent her career in Belgrade, where Serbian sources call her a Serbian singer, which is why she is listed here with Serbia.
She came onto the Yugoslav music scene at the end of the 1960s. With her husband, musician Slobodan Bobo Đorđević, and his band she performed in American clubs in West Germany, and later night after night for the guests of Hotel Jugoslavija in Belgrade. Her first single, "Kraj moje tuge", came out in 1974, and until the early 1980s she released around ten singles and sang at Beogradsko proleće, Hit parada, Opatija and Split. With her husband she sang "Želim te" at Beogradsko proleće and "Zbog poljubaca tvojih" at Opatija in 1974.
Her greatest success was "Počnimo ljubav ispočetka" by Aleksandar Korać, which she first sang at Beogradsko proleće in 1976. Other festival songs included "Ja te volim", "Sklopi stare žaluzine" in Split, "Jedna ljubav stara" and "Žalićemo, žalićemo". When new trends took over the scene, her style was pushed to the margins, but she kept singing in Belgrade clubs for a devoted audience.
In 2012 City Records released The best of Beti Đorđević with 23 of her best-known songs. She recorded "Nisam znala" by Žarko Dančuo in 2016 and sang "Nema te" with Rambo Amadeus at Beovizija 2018, and she also worked with the Belgrade band SevdahBABY. In 2025 she returned to Beogradsko proleće with "Počnimo ljubav ispočetka" and received a special lifetime achievement award. Beti Đorđević died in Belgrade on 19 January 2026.
