About Benjamin Isović

Benjamin Isović is a Bosnian singer-songwriter and poet from Sarajevo, where he was born, and that is why he is on Muzika-Balkan. He is the son of the sevdalinka singer Safet Isović, and his work is closely tied to his home city.

In the 1980s Discogs credits him with backing vocals on two albums by Zabranjeno Pušenje, Das ist Walter (1984) and Male priče o velikoj ljubavi (1989). He made his name above all as a lyricist. He wrote the words of "Bezimena", "Prolazi godina" and "Što je s princezom moje vrele mladosti" on Obojeni snovi (1989), the album of Boris i Noćna straža, the band of Boris Novković, and later a song on Novković's Struji struja (1994). He also wrote "Ivana" for Slomljena Stakla (1991) and four songs on the album Bona ne bila (1996) by Fadil Toskić, and he wrote and arranged for his father, among others on the 2003 album Legenda o Bosni.

His best-known song as a singer is "Mi smo divovi" ("We Are Giants"), released in 2009. He is a supporter of FK Sarajevo and has led one of the club's fan associations, and the song has since become the club's official anthem: the big home matches at Koševo open with it, sung by the whole stadium.
