About Alma Čardžić
Alma Čardžić is a pop singer from Bosnia and Herzegovina, born on 10 March 1968 in Maglaj. She is best known for the Eurovision Song Contest, where she represented Bosnia and Herzegovina twice, in 1994 and 1997.
She showed a flair for music as a child, and at fifteen she won the amateur festival Studentsko ljeto (Student Summer). In 1992 she competed in Jugovizija, the Yugoslav selection, with "Ljubav će pobijediti" and came tenth, and in 1993 she entered the Bosnian selection with "Svi na ulice", reportedly finishing second. In the early 1990s she also recorded the duets "Mi hoćemo mir" (1991) and "Ne daj se Bosno" (1992).
In 1994 she was paired with Dejan Lazarević for the ballad "Ostani kraj mene" (Stay with me), composed by Adi Mulahalilović with lyrics by Edo Mulahalilović. It won the national final in Sarajevo on 26 February 1994. At Eurovision in Dublin on 30 April the audience greeted the duo with long, sustained cheering in recognition of the situation in Bosnia, so loud that Lazarević stumbled on the opening lines because he could not hear the music. They finished 15th of 25 with 39 points.
Her first solo album, Plavo oko, came out in 1996. In 1997 she was chosen to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina again and sang every song in the national final of 22 February, where a jury picked "Goodbye" by Milić Vukašinović and Sinan Alimanović. Sung in Bosnian despite its English title, it placed joint 18th in Dublin on 3 May with 22 points.
The albums Duša (1998) and Malo po malo (2001) followed, and the compilation Moje pjesme in 2004. At the second Bosnian music awards, held on 22 January 2004, Alma Čardžić was named singer of the decade and won single of the year for "Dva dana". She has released four CDs and remains a popular singer in her homeland.
