About Vesna Hadžić
Vesna Hadžić is a singer of sevdalinka, the traditional love song of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On 19 October 1996 she sang at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana in "In the Shadow of the Jasmine: Bosnian Love Songs", a concert of the City of Women festival, beside Beba Selimović and Emina Zečaj, accompanied by the orchestra of Omer Pobrić. The festival presented her as their young colleague, proof that the tradition of women sevdalinka singers in Bosnia and Herzegovina had carried on in the best possible way.
In 2007 the label Piranha put her "Sini jarko sa istoka sunce" on the compilation Sevdalinka: Sarajevo Love Songs, alongside Jadranka Stojaković, Zerina Cokoja, Damir Imamović and Avdo Lemeš; a reviewer named her among its excellent singers with soothing voices. Her album Ko ti kćeri pokida đerdane holds old sevdalinkas such as "Kaj tanana šadrvana", "Ko se ono brijegom šeće", "Razbolje se šimšir list" and "Šećer Mujo", and she has also recorded with the sevdah ensemble AŠK Željo.
