About Zerina Cokoja
Zerina Cokoja is a pop singer from Bosnia and Herzegovina, born on 19 September 1964 in Sarajevo. She has been recording since 1986 and lives in Munich, Germany.
Before music made her name she was already known in Bosnia and Herzegovina as the first runner-up in the Miss Bosnia and Herzegovina contest. Her first album, Bačena je kocka, came out in 1986. In 1988 she sang several duets with Narcis Vučina: "Ja ljubim, ljubim te" took second place in the audience vote at Beogradsko proleće, "Zvijezda od slobode" was heard at the Split festival, and "Voljeću te" finished eighth at Jugovizija, the Yugoslav Eurovision selection, in Ljubljana.
Her big hit was "Evo ti sve što imam", the title song of her 1990 album, which took her to the top of Yugoslav pop. Her hits were written by Đorđe Novković and Zrinko Tutić, among them "Ničija nije do zore sjala", "Grlim jastuk na kojem si spav'o" and "I dok piće pijemo polako". She came back to Jugovizija twice more: "Bez tebe" was fourth in Sarajevo in 1991, and "Neka te pjesmom probude" fourteenth in Belgrade in 1992. In 1991 she also sang "Ljubovna pesna" at Makfest in Štip.
The albums Neka me pjesmom probude (1992) and Bez tvoje ljubavi (1995) followed, and in 2002 Ne mogu ti obećati. That year she sang "Bila je to ljubav" with Kemal Monteno at the Croatian Radio Festival and "Pala čaša" at the Slavonija festival in Požega. Later festival songs were "Zvijezda sjeverna" at Pjesma Mediterana in Budva in 2004 and "33 razloga" at the radio festival of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2005.
In April 2026 Croatia Records released new recordings of hers produced by Brano Likić, among them "Plave oči" and "Bosnom snijeg bijeli se". Her songs, old and new, are gathered here in one playlist.
