About Tajna Tanović

Tajna Tanović is a singer-songwriter, actress, photographer and producer. She was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is why she is on Muzika-Balkan, although English Wikipedia describes her as German. Her career has taken her from Sarajevo to Ljubljana, all over Germany, New York and Los Angeles, where she now works as Creative Executive at the independent film and television company Taylor Lane Productions.

As a child she played Liza Minnelli in Kids Cabaret for the national television in Sarajevo. From 1993 to 2004 she was the leading actress of Theater TAS in Germany. With its Project 3 she toured theatres such as the Munich Kammerspiele, Hamburg's Thalia Theater and Cankar Hall in Ljubljana, and in 1994 the role of the Girl in it earned her a nomination for the Best Young Artist Award of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Music runs through all of it. She gave two concerts, in 2001 and 2003, at Heinrich Böll's summer festival in Langenbroich, and sang in the band Love in Shakespeare, which performed Shakespeare's sonnets. She wrote the music for the short film Dolly Belle (2009), and her songs "I Think of You" and "Hey! Hey!" were used in the play Mirjana and those around her at the MGL Theatre in Ljubljana.

On 30 September 2011 she self-released her debut EP, I Think of You, with five songs of her own: "Mount Everest", "75 Degrees Sunny Chances of Rain", "In the RaiNY City", "Burning House" and the title track. She wrote it and sang lead and backing vocals, playing acoustic guitar, piano and percussion; it was recorded at The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn with John Davis producing, mixing and playing bass and keyboards, and mastered by Randy Merrill at Masterdisk. In September 2012 she released a video for "I Think of You", directed by Samuel Nozik, and scenes from Dolly Belle appear in the video for "Burning House".

She also worked as a producer in New York, was the German voice of the PUMA SoundTrip for the 2006 World Cup, and speaks English, German, French and Bosnian. The playlist holds the five songs of her EP.
