About Stranci

Stranci (Strangers) is a Slovenian rock band from Celje. It came together in Celje in May 2002, and that is why it is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia; Slovenian Wikipedia gives Celje as its home. It is first of all a live band, and over its first decade it became an established rock and roll act on stages in Slovenia, Croatia and Austria.

The band describes itself as old friends of many alternative rock bands, free of political, national and other limits, and it sings in several languages: Slovenian, Serbo-Croatian, German, English and Russian.

Its first CD, Zavrnjeno, was self-released on 10 April 2005: twelve of the band's own songs of angry garage rock, with darkly humorous words in Slovenian and Serbo-Croatian, and a cover of "Lepi in prazni" by Pankrti. The second, Kirjetukinor?, came out on 20 November 2009 on the Ljubljana label FV Music, and the band said its sound had turned towards energy, directness and strength. It sets Srečko Kosovel's poem "Rdeča raketa" with a garage women's choir and has a song in Russian, "Zemlja", with the singer Julija of the band Equilibrium. Stranci also appear on several compilations: Imamo dobro glasbo - Val 08 (RTV Slovenija, 2008), Glasbeni festival MMC 1 (RTV Slovenija, 2009), the poets-set-to-rock series Rokerji pojejo pesnike (volumes 5 and 6, 2009 and 2010, Subkulturni azil), with "Triglav v negativu" on volume 5, and Ex-Yu No Borders Underground Jamming (2012). They also wrote the music for the film Rdeča raketa.

The line-up named by Slovenian Wikipedia is Matjaž Naglič, Peter Schmidt, Dare Gozdnikar and Grega Sevnik, with Tomaž Brumec and Jernej Vidmar as former members.

The playlist comes from the band's own channel, with the official videos for "Veliki črni bik" and "Lost in translation", the single "To je ta dan", "Rdeča raketa", the whole album Kirjetukinor? and a few rehearsal jams.
