Skupina Gadi

Skupina Gadi is a Slovenian narodnozabavna band from the wider Ljubljana area. They trace their beginnings to 2005, but count 2008 as the real start, when they first played at festivals and on television. They play folk-pop (narodnozabavna) and pop music with three-part singing, and are best known for "Bejbi", "Draga, povej", "Malo, malo še", "Ne grem domov", "Pojdi z njim" and "Poslovni oglas".

The first line-up was Anže Zavrl on accordion, David Novak on guitar and Robi Kokalj on bass, later joined by singer Milenko Novak. In 2010 Primož Ilovar replaced Kokalj, and since Milenko Novak left in 2011 Gadi have played as a trio. David Novak had already been on television in 2004, coming fourth in the talent contest Bitka talentov on Spet doma, the series won by Omar Naber.

Success at festivals came quickly. In 2010 they won the award for the best melody and the Golden Shepherd (zlati pastirček) at Graška Gora, and first prize of the expert jury for performance at the festival in Dolenjske Toplice. In 2011 they were rewarded at Vurberk, took the Golden Shepherd at Graška Gora again, and won the prestigious Slovenska polka in valček festival with the best polka, "Poslovni oglas".

That year they also recorded "Slovenski narodnjak" with Ansambel Vikend and Ansambel Naveza, the anthem that opened the Zavriskaj muzikant concert in Novo mesto on 14 October 2011, marking five years of the portal Narodnjak.si; the music and arrangement were by Primož Ilovar. Although they are at heart a folk ensemble, Gadi have also recorded pop songs, the first of them "Nina" in 2010.

Their albums are Poslovni oglas (2011), Malo, malo še (2014) and Ne grem domov (2017), and newer videos include "Oženil bom Slovenko", "Martini", "Paše", "Pridi v objem" and "A le ti", as well as two duets with Alfi Nipič, "Moja sanjarjenja" and "Za nas je sveto". In October 2025 accordionist Anže Zavrl ran the full Ljubljana Marathon while playing a specially built light accordion almost the whole way, and was officially entered in the Guinness World Records.
