About Ansambel Vikend
Ansambel Vikend is a five-piece Slovenian narodnozabavna (folk-pop) ensemble based in Vinska Gora, formed in 2009. It is known for many hits and festival awards. The founding members were the leader Rajko Petek, Miha Volk, Miha Lesjak and Peter Osetič, joined in 2012 by Melvin Majcen.
They made their festival debut in the year they formed, at the New Year festival in Dolenjske Toplice. In 2010 they toured the United States and Canada for Slovenian emigrants, playing among other things at the Toronto reception for the marathon swimmer Martin Strel. They appeared at five festivals that year, and at Slovenski slavček they were named the most promising group of 2010.
In 2011 they made the video for "Izgubil sem vse", which remains their most played song, and recorded "Slovenski narodnjak" with Skupina Gadi and Ansambel Naveza as the anthem of the Zavriskaj muzikant concert in Novo mesto. Their first album, Tebi, Vinska Gora, came out the same year, followed by Ljubezen razdeljena (2013), Godec z dušo (2014) and Sin (2018).
Their biggest success came at Slovenska polka in valček 2015, the most prestigious festival of the genre, where the waltz "Sin" won both the expert jury and the audience. In 2014 they had already won the Zlati zmaj at Vurberk and the best song overall at Ptuj with "Ko polko urežem", and in 2016 "Staram se" won the audience award at Ptuj.
The line-up changed several times: Gregor Gramc, formerly of Ansambel Nemir, replaced Osetič in 2014, and Primož Osek joined in 2018. Today they are Rajko Petek on accordion, Miha Volk on guitar, Gregor Gramc on bass, and Miha Lesjak and Primož Osek on vocals. Other well-known songs are "Mala", "Moj dan", "Daj, povej", "Ne joči, mami" and their duet with Veseli Dolenjci, "Če muzikanta imela boš za fanta".
