Sivilo

Sivilo is the stage name of Balša Krkeljić, a Montenegrin rapper and video maker born on 20 September 1987 in Belgrade. He grew up in Podgorica, in the Stari Aerodrom neighbourhood, and became known for his debut album Tamna strana sreće, which critics and listeners counted among the better hip-hop albums of the 2010s.

He played basketball for ten years before turning to hip-hop at 19. He wrote his first song, dedicated to a girl, in 2006, and after it was well received online he recorded his first single, "Diši duboko", in 2007. While studying at the Faculty of Visual Arts he became friends with three fellow students, with whom he later formed a live band and set up the advertising studio Mediatag, where he works as a producer and videographer.

Tamna strana sreće came out in 2013 on the Belgrade label Bassivity, with seventeen songs and guests Bdat Džutim, Struka, Ayllah and VIP. His video for "Sam protiv svih" is considered the first Montenegrin music video to be shown on MTV. Two years later he started the online project Ljeto kada su me krunisali, setting himself the task of making one song a week, from idea to release in seven days; it lasted eleven weeks and produced eleven songs, and its single "No. 1" spent two weeks at number one on MTV's Domaćica chart.

In 2015 he guested on Struka and Reksona's album Totalna kontrola with "Vratio se vuk", alongside Marko Louis. In 2016 he played the Exit festival in Novi Sad with the rest of the Bassivity crew, who opened the main stage on the last night, and with his band he also appeared at Lake Fest and other festivals in the region. That year he became director of creative video production at the Serbian games company Nordeus.

After a few years away from rap, he returned on Christmas Eve 2021 with the first song of a new album, Siva srijeda, putting out a new untitled song every Wednesday and letting listeners name it in the comments. With his sister Neda he has also hosted podcasts about films and TV series.
