About RIN
RIN, born Renato Šimunović on 28 June 1994, is a German-language rapper from the Stuttgart area and one of the best-known names of German hip-hop since the late 2010s. He has a place among the Croatian artists here because of his family: both his parents are Croats, his mother from Herzegovina and his father from Bosnia, who came to Germany as a guest worker in the 1970s, and RIN holds only a Croatian passport.
He grew up in Bietigheim-Bissingen near Stuttgart and went to school there, while his parents run a restaurant in nearby Ludwigsburg. He has stayed true to the town: the Apple Music notes to his 2021 album Kleinstadt say that he still lived in Bietigheim-Bissingen, instead of moving to Berlin like most German rappers.
RIN started making music with the rapper Caz in 2012. Through the Berlin label Live from Earth he met the Austrian rapper Yung Hurn, and in May 2016 their track "Bianco" became a summer hit, voted single of the year by Juice magazine. His early songs were described as cloud rap and trap, full of references to fashion and hip-hop culture. In 2017 he signed with Division Recordings, and his debut album Eros, with 15 songs, came out on 1 September 2017. It reached number three in Germany and won the 1 Live Krone for best album.
The mixtape Planet Megatron followed in June 2018; its single "Dior 2001" went gold in Germany and platinum in Austria. After hits such as "Up in Smoke", the second album Nimmerland arrived in December 2019, announced by "Fabergé" and full of nods to the 2000s: "Keine Liebe" leans on a song by the band Echt, and "Vintage" samples Jay-Z. The HipHop.de Awards named him best national newcomer in 2017 and best national live act in 2020.
On Kleinstadt (2021), with guests Giant Rooks and Schmyt, reviewers heard grunge rock and soul. The EP Euphoria came in 2023, and his fourth album, Nostalgia, was released on 24 July 2026 with Reezy, OG Keemo and Schmyt. The playlist gathers his official videos, from "Blackberry" and "Odyssee" to "Bladerunner".
