Pocket Palma

Pocket Palma, often written pocket palma, is a Croatian synth-pop duo from Zagreb, formed in 2012 by Anja Papa and Luka Vidović. Until 2019 they were called Side Project and sang in English; as Pocket Palma they make nostalgic, 1980s-flavoured synthwave in Croatian, with songs about the seaside, getting out of the city and summer love.

Papa and Vidović met in secondary school in 2012 and started covering Arctic Monkeys and Guns N' Roses for fun; both had been to primary music school, she on the flute and he on the piano. As Side Project they released the single "Things Which No One Else Should Know About" in 2013 and the albums Things Which No One Else Should Know About (2015) and Lonely Boys (2017), and recorded the soundtrack of Filip Filković's short film The Last Well.

After most of 2018 apart, they translated one of their songs into Croatian, liked how it sounded, and turned to synth pop after Vidović had wandered into Yugoslav synth-pop playlists on YouTube. Their first Croatian single, "Godišnji", came out under the new name in 2019, followed in May by the EP of the same name, and "Ono što nam inače nedostaje" became a radio hit that year. In October 2019 they signed with Aquarius Records, which released their self-titled debut album in December; critics praised it and compared the band with Nipplepeople and Denis & Denis.

In 2020 they played Tvornica kulture in Zagreb and recorded "Voli me" with ManGroove and "Minuta" with Ida Prester. The second album, Atomi, came out in October 2021 and a reworked version in 2022, and "Ne mogu biti kao oni" in June 2023 announced their third album, III. From 2019 to 2025 guitarist Bruno Žabek made them a trio, before they became a duo again.

Their more recent songs include "Lungomare" with Yung Bude, "Nije dovoljno" with IDEM, "Boli me" and "Poltergeist", and in 2026 they released the album Dan. The playlist here is the band's own music video playlist.
