About Metaklapa
Metaklapa is a Croatian a cappella group that sings heavy metal the klapa way: six voices and no instruments at all. The name joins heavy metal with klapa, the Dalmatian tradition of unaccompanied group singing that is on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage, and all six members also sing in klapa groups.
The idea was born one evening of singing on the island of Brač. The six singers are tenors Davor Capković and Matej Pavlić, baritone Boris Capković, Tonko Podrug, and basses Dino Demicheli and Ante Kovačević. As Davor Capković explains, the first voice carries the melody and the second follows it, and klapa singing depends above all on precision.
Most of their repertoire comes from Iron Maiden. In spring 2021 they signed with the German label NoCut Entertainment, and their debut album, The Choir of Beasts, came out on 28 January 2022, produced by Marko Matijević Sekul of the folk-metal band Manntra. It holds Maiden classics such as "Aces High", "Fear of the Dark", "Hallowed Be Thy Name", "Blood Brothers", "The Wicker Man" and "Brave New World". In the region it was released by Menart.
Their performance video for "Fear of the Dark" is the most watched, and later releases added Live at Kaiserdom, with "The Clairvoyant", "Caught Somewhere in Time" and "Svit se konča", and tributes to Motörhead ("Love Me Forever") and Helloween ("Forever and One"). They have sung in churches, once after a heavy metal service in Wacken, and in July 2023 at St. Egidien in Nuremberg, and their tour for early 2027 includes the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
The playlist collects their official videos.
