Kontra

Kontra is the stage name of Zlatan Hajlovac, a Bosnian rapper born in 1990 in Sarajevo. He has rapped since 2004, is a member of Dlanbeatz and of the Sarajevo hip hop collective FM JAM, and also plays as a DJ; by day he works as a lawyer.

He started out with mixtapes, Kontra Mixtape in 2009 and Sto Posto Mixtape in 2013, and with the rapper and producer Shtuka he made the 24 Sata series, songs written, recorded, produced and released within 24 hours. With Shtuka he also recorded his first album, Pogled u prazno, in 2012, with the video "Nije svejedno".

Igra riječi (2014) was his first solo album, with the hit "King Kontra" and the title song recorded with Shtela and Shtuka. The portal Muzička Zona named it the best album of 2014 in the Balkans. Putanja followed in 2017, Egzil in 2018, 20/20 in 2019 and Nikad zauvijek isti in 2020.

On stage he works with his FM JAM partners Frenkie, Indigo and DJ Soul, and with Shtuka for his solo shows, and he has performed alongside Bushido, Azad, RAF Camora and M.O.P. Early on he also recorded with Buba Corelli, on "Nevina" and "Digni bass". In a 2022 interview with Radio Free Europe Kontra said he releases whole albums rather than single songs, and makes physical copies so that the work lasts.

This playlist is his own YouTube channel, from the songs of Pogled u prazno to "Opaska autora", "Heroji" and "Monstrum".
