About Klapa Nostalgija
Klapa Nostalgija is a klapa from Zagreb, a male vocal group singing the Dalmatian a cappella tradition. It was founded in 1983 by Dinko Fio, who was also its leader and mentor for many years.
Dinko Fio, born in Blato on Korčula in 1924, was a composer, conductor, melographer and teacher, one of the first Croatian specialists in writing down folk melodies. His arrangements saved many traditional Dalmatian klapa songs from being forgotten, and he set the verses of poets such as Vladimir Nazor for klapa singing. Nostalgija sang his settings for decades, until his death in Zagreb in 2011.
The klapa has sung at the Festival dalmatinskih klapa in Omiš, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Hvarsko ljeto, Riječko kulturno ljeto, the Lubeničke večeri and festivals of Mediterranean vocal groups. In 2007 it sang with nine voices: Ante Krolo as first tenor, Martin Veža and Ivan Čikeš as second tenors, Dragan Gobović, Josip Vatavuk and Ivica Panjkota as baritones, and Marko Rogošić, Damir Rončević and Ive Raič as basses.
Its recordings on Croatia Records include Dalmatinska, Bonaca u predvečerje, the Christmas album Veseljenje and the collection Zlatna kolekcija (2014), and in 2005 it released Sotto voce on Campus. The playlist is the album Dalmatinska, with "Ju te san se zajubija", "Ludo more", "Moj brodiću" and "Vratija se Šime".
