About Klapa Dišpet
Klapa Dišpet is a women's klapa from Zagreb. It was founded at the end of 1998 by students of the University of Zagreb, most of them of Dalmatian origin, and sings traditional a cappella klapa songs, many of them half-forgotten folk songs in new arrangements.
The klapa gave its first full concert in June 1999 in the Salesian church in Zagreb, together with Joško Ćaleta, and the same year it made its debut at the Festival of Dalmatian Klapas in Omiš. In 2000 it reached the festival's final and won the bronze Omiš lute, the third audience award, and that year it also sang at the Omiš u Zagrebu concert. In 2001 the audience gave Dišpet its first prize, the golden lute, and the jury awarded the bronze shield of the town of Omiš.
Arranger Joško Ćaleta became the klapa's closest collaborator. The first album, Za Dišpet, came out on Aquarius Records in 2004, followed by the Christmas album Tri kralja hodijahu, also on Aquarius, in 2013. Došlo vrime came out on Croatia Records in 2017 and was presented at a concert in the Milesi Palace of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts on 3 March 2018.
The programme of that concert shows the klapa's range: traditional songs from Ražanac, Lastovo, Tisno, Šolta, Mljet, the Bay of Kotor and Herzegovina, in arrangements by Ćaleta, Vedran Bonačić, Vicko Dragojević and Jadran Jeić. In 2023 Dišpet released Jedna ura 'lada, songs from the fields, and presented it on a tour of Japan under the patronage of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. In 2024 Croatia Records released Stare pisme s ušća Neretve, old songs from the mouth of the Neretva arranged by Živko Ključe.
The playlist is the klapa's own YouTube channel, with "Lijepa se Mare udala", "Od mora eto svatova", "Poleće soko' sa grane", "Šibenska molitva", "Materin plač" and "Lastovska kolenda", sung in Tokyo.
