Kidda

Kidda is a rapper and singer who records in Albanian, one of the best-known names of the Albanian scene in Scandinavia and Switzerland. He was born Mërgim Kida on 7 August 1997 in Gävle, Sweden, into an Albanian family from Gjakova in Kosovo, and that family is why he is on Muzika-Balkan under Kosovo. He grew up in Malmö, in the south of Sweden.

He started out making beats and writing lyrics as a teenager, and his first official singles, "In My Zone" and "Right Here", came out in 2016. His first song in the charts was "E imja", DJ A-Boom's 2017 track with Kidda as guest, which reached number 36 in Switzerland. A run of singles followed, among them "A m'foli mu", "Komedi" with S4mm, "Bye Bye", "My Money", "Mega" and "Flake" with Ermal Fejzullahu in 2018, then "Jump on It", "Bella", "Coco" and "Zemra ime" in 2019.

His breakthrough came in 2020. "Malli" reached number 12 in Albania and number 20 in Switzerland, and "Cataleya" was another top-twenty hit in Albania and charted in Switzerland too. In 2021 "Pale", recorded with Dardan, reached the charts in Switzerland, Germany and Austria, and "Magji" with Capital T went to number 2 in Albania. "040 Dukat" followed the same year and "Low" in 2022.

His sound mixes rap with Balkan-style melodies and dancehall rhythms. In 2024 "Ça je" reached number 18 on the Swiss singles chart. His later songs include "Bakllava", "Gypsy", "Bad Gyal" and "Fly", and in early 2025 he released "Si je" with MC Kresha and Lyrical Son.
